Brown Friday: A Plumber's Black Friday

It's the day after Thanksgiving, when everyone else is thinking about Christmas shopping and plumbers are answering calls about clogged kitchen sinks, stopped-up toilets and drains that picked Thanksgiving dinner to finally give up.

Think about what happens to a home's plumbing on Thanksgiving. The kitchen sink gets used all day. Pots, pans and greasy dishes are washed. Food scraps find their way into the drain. And a home that normally has three or four people suddenly has a dozen relatives eating, drinking and using the bathroom.

Just remember: the leftovers belong in the refrigerator — not down the drain.

And if the toilet starts gurgling while Uncle Jimmy is still in the bathroom...
